Today is International Women’s Day (IWD) – a day that has been observed since 1911 and has seen many iterations of the struggle for women’s rights. For dymaptic, this is a day for celebrating our achievements as a women-owned technology company – and it is also a day to recognize inequities faced by women around the globe. This year, we want to highlight some of the ways dymaptic supports organizations that create opportunities for women.
First, we want to highlight the Global Midwives’ Hub, a collaboration between the humanitarian aid organization Direct Relief and the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). Both organizations share a mission to improve maternal health around the world. The Global Midwives’ Hub provides information about the state of the midwifery field, in order to increase geographic understanding in the field of midwifery and strengthen advocacy work.
Through a volunteer opportunity with GISCorps, dymaptic was able to contribute to the building of the Global Midwives’ Hub. Our team was tasked with helping create the ArcGIS Hub Premium site. The project included creating Python scripts to automate data loading of feature layers, configuring ArcGIS Hub, and ArcGIS Hub community users. We are excited to share this story, but even more excited to have been a part of a project designed to impact the health of women and newborns around the world.
Another organization that dymaptic supports is Women Who Code (WWCode). Research shows that the national percentage of women in tech is 26%, and that representation drops significantly when considering women of color. Dymaptic took part in Women Who Code to the Finish Line to support WWCode’s work of empowering more diverse women to be and become leaders and innovators in the industry. Our team took the time during a company meeting to walk or run to support the cause, sharing our experiences to generate donations.

We also believe in uplifting more women who are struggling for equality, across the globe, and will continue to find ways that we can act on that belief – and hope you will too.
