PORTLAND, OR – For immediate release

Dymaptic, a Silver Partner in the Esri Partner Network, helped the City of Houston Public Works get a real-time birds-eye view of its wide-ranging services by implementing ArcGIS Monitor. The story was recently featured by Esri in an ArcGIS Monitor success story.

Houston, TX, is the fourth largest city in the U.S. The work and information involved in making it run smoothly is a mammoth job. The geospatial services team at Houston Public Works is tasked with ensuring that the GIS infrastructure is there and available to support day-to-day operations. In practice, this means creating and adapting technical infrastructure, and constantly monitoring and troubleshooting more than 100 separate services.

Dymaptic, an innovative and woman-owned GIS services provider, offers web and mobile solutions; desktop app development; database design and deployment; custom widget implementation; and server, database, and GIS configuration and administration. The company is also the creator of ArcGIS feature reporting tool Infomaptic, a software-as-a-service solution built in support of ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise. As a long-time collaborator with the City of Houston with expert knowledge and experience with ArcGIS Monitor, Dymaptic was the natural choice for this project.

Before Dymaptic implemented ArcGIS Monitor, the process was cumbersome and slow. And according to Houston Public Works GIS manager Anthony Powell, “I didn’t have anything to gauge what system usage looked like.” Dymaptic was able to get Monitor up and running almost out of the box. With a small number of customized components and a few added extensions, the solution has significantly improved efficiency, user experience, and troubleshooting. “What Monitor does,” says Dymaptic CTO Christopher Moravec, “is it both creates an overwatch situation and puts all the necessary troubleshooting tools into one place.”

With such a success story and another job well done, Dymaptic CEO Mara Stoica is looking forward to the Esri User Conference. For the first time, this year the company will have a booth at the conference – find them at booth 2130! “I am really looking forward to discussing users’ GIS development challenges,” says Ms. Stoica, “and I am also looking forward to demoing Infomaptic, our own, in-house developed feature reporting tool. It’s a sleek, straightforward, and GIS-friendly app that provides valuable flexibility in the field, easily customizable reports, and it integrates fully and seamlessly with ArcGIS Online data and permissions.”
